U.S. Implements New Safety Certification Requirements for Amusement & Playground Equipment

Effective July 8, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has enforced updated regulations affecting the import of amusement and playground equipment .

Key Requirement: CPC Certification

All equipment designed for children 12 years of age and under must now comply with Children’s Product Certificate (CPC) requirements .

This applies to items such as:

  • Slides and swings

  • Playground structures

  • Ride-on toys

  • Physical play equipment

New Mandatory eFiling System

A significant procedural change is the mandatory electronic filing (eFiling) through the U.S. Customs ACE system . Importers must now submit product safety data before the cargo arrives at the U.S. border .

Why This Matters

Without valid CPC documentation and proper electronic filing, shipments will face:

  •  Automatic customs holds and delays

  • Potential detention and rejection at the port

What Needs to Be Done

Importers must ensure the following:

  • Testing: Products must be tested by a CPSC-accredited third-party laboratory .

  • Certification: Issue a valid CPC based on test results .

  • Data Submission: Submit critical data (including product ID, manufacturing date, test lab info, and U.S. importer details) via the ACE system before arrival .

We recommend reviewing your compliance procedures immediately to ensure seamless customs clearance.
